Evening Programme
Tuesdays 7.30 - 10.00p.m.
The Certificate in Theology is a two-year evening programme run by the Milltown
Institute of Theology and Philosophy. The award is accredited by the NUI. The aim of the programme is to facilitate a growth in understanding of the Christian faith and its implications for life in today’s world. The programme is run on Tuesday evenings from 7.30-10.00pm in each of three terms over two years.
Each year will include six non-residential weekends, two per term. A weekend involves a Friday evening, 7.30-10.00p.m. and a Saturday morning, 10.30-1.00p.m.
In each year of the programme students will be introduced to ten or so modules, or short introductory courses, in different areas of theology. These will include Scripture, Liturgy, Sacramental theology, Moral
theology, Systematic theology, Spirituality, Church History and Philosophy. Teaching will involve a combination of input from a range of experienced teachers and small group discussions. Students are required to submit five pieces of written work for assessment in the course of each year of the programme.
PLEASE NOTE: The Institute is not taking new entrants in this programme in the academic year 2010/2011.
