Board of Trustees
A Board of Trustees, composed of the provincial superiors of religious institutes, has primary responsibility for the mission and ethos of the Institute. The Chancellor is the Superior General of the Society of Jesus; the Vice-Chancellor is the Provincial of the Irish Province of the Society of Jesus. The Archbishop of Dublin is Patron of the Institute.

Governing Authority of the Recognised College
The Governing Authority and the Board of Trustees share responsibility for the wellbeing of Milltown Institute. The Governing Authority is responsible for all administrative and academic matters within the Recognised College.

Academic Council of the Recognised College
All matters concerning curriculum, instruction and academic standards, and all other matters on which the academic welfare of the Institute depend, including research and scholarship, are under the jurisdiction of the Academic Council. The Academic Council is consistent with the Universities Act 1997.
