Welcome from the Rector
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all students attending programmes, both undergraduate and postgraduate, under the aegis of the Ecclesiastical Faculty at the Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy. Staff and students in the Ecclesiastical Faculty work very closely with the staff and students of the Recognised College of the NUI at Milltown. We are all participants in the one community of learning and hope to support each other mutually in our endeavours.
Students in the Ecclesiastical Faculty may be studying for a Doctorate or Licentiate in Theology, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, or for Diplomas and Certificates in a range of specialised disciplines. A special welcome is extended to those students who will be attending programmes accredited by the Ecclesiastical Faculty in various outreach centres such as the Jesuit centres of spirituality in Manresa House, Dublin and in Salthill, Galway; An Croí Centre of Spirituality in Drogheda; the online programmes in Carmelite Spirituality run by the Carmelite Institute of Britain and Ireland (CIBI). I sincerely hope that all the students in the different outreach programmes will feel that they are cherished members of the Milltown Institute community of learning.
Many of you may be students from abroad, either returning to complete another year of your studies or taking your first steps as you commence your studies in the Milltown Institute. You are a great source of enrichment to the academic, cultural, liturgical and social life of the Institute. Exchanges between the different nationalities among the student body have always been a positive and enriching experience in Milltown at many different levels. It is a most valued part of our life together in the Institute.
I hope that your time in Milltown may be blessed in every way. We look forward to your individual and collective contributions to the life of the Institute in many different areas in the forthcoming academic year. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or any of the other officials of the Institute, if we can be of any practical help to you in any way during your time with us.
Finbarr Clancy S.J.
Rector of the Ecclesiastical Faculty
